EBC-Lite Electronic Boost Controller

EBC-Lite is an electronic boost controller developed from Shadow's DEBC II control logic. With a more compact display and simplified interface, operation is more intuitive, while installation is cleaner and more streamlined.

For turbocharged vehicles, precise boost control is the foundation of stable power output. EBC-Lite helps users take control of when boost engages, how quickly pressure builds, how stable it remains, and when protection is activated.

Why Use an Electronic Boost Controller?

Traditional mechanical wastegates or actuators rely on spring pressure to determine the base boost level. To change it, you typically need to replace or adjust the spring. This structure is simple and reliable, but without electronic boost control, boost behavior remains fixed and cannot be adjusted on the fly.

EBC-Lite uses high-frequency PWM solenoid control together with a MAP sensor to manage boost comprehensively. Boost pressure can be precisely set, quickly switched, monitored, and protected—giving users a clearer, more complete picture of what their turbo is actually doing.

Core Features

EBC-Lite provides three independent modes: N, A, and B.

N Mode keeps factory boost control with no solenoid intervention.

A Mode and B Mode allow users to set different boost parameters for different driving situations.

Each mode stores its own settings independently and can be switched or checked in real time while driving.

BAR / PSI Unit Switching

The display supports both BAR and PSI, making it suitable for different markets and user preferences.

Users can select their preferred unit, eliminating the need for manual conversion.

Four Tuning Parameters for Full Boost Curve Control

Boost tuning is not a single number—it is a complete curve. EBC-Lite uses four key parameters, each corresponding to a different phase: when boost starts, how quickly it builds, how stable it remains, and when protection is activated.

Start

Sets the pressure point where solenoid control begins.

Before boost reaches the Start value, EBC-Lite does not intervene. This keeps the vehicle's natural low-RPM and low-load response intact. Once boost reaches the set value, the controller engages according to the Duty setting.

Duty

Controls the solenoid opening ratio.

Duty mainly affects boost build-up speed and peak boost pressure. A higher Duty value increases the solenoid control ratio, raising peak boost accordingly. This is a key parameter for tuning throttle response and power delivery in the lower and mid-range.

Gain

Adjusts boost stability under high load.

After reaching target boost, some vehicles may experience pressure drop due to plumbing layout, turbo efficiency, exhaust backpressure, or changing engine load. Gain helps compensate for this pressure loss, keeping boost more stable during sustained high-load operation.

High Boost Limit

High Boost Limit is the overboost protection setting.

When actual boost exceeds the set value, the controller activates forced pressure relief and flashes the display to alert the driver that pressure has exceeded the safe threshold. This provides an important final layer of protection during boost tuning.

AUX Output for External Devices

EBC-Lite supports an AUX output (+12V / 1A).

A Mode and B Mode can each independently set an AUX trigger threshold. When boost reaches the set value, the AUX output activates; when boost drops below the set value, the output turns off.

Common applications include relays, water injection systems, overboost warning lights, external warning devices, or any equipment that accepts a +12V trigger signal.

This makes EBC-Lite not only a boost controller, but also a pressure-based trigger for expanded functionality.

Independent PEAK Record

Whether for daily driving, tuning tests, or track use, users can review the highest boost pressure reached in each mode.

With PEAK records, users can check whether boost is too high, whether pressure drops, whether settings need adjustment, and whether the vehicle remains stable under high load.

Vehicle Compatibility and Installation Requirements

EBC-Lite is suitable for mechanical turbo boost control systems operated by positive pressure, where the solenoid valve can be externally connected to the boost control circuit.

Maximum supported boost pressure: 3.0 bar / 43.5 PSI

Applicable Systems:

- Mechanical actuator turbo systems
- External wastegate turbo systems
- Modified turbocharged vehicles requiring external boost control

Not Applicable:

- Factory electronic wastegate systems
- Vehicles with ECU-integrated electronic boost control
- Turbo systems that cannot use an external solenoid
- Naturally aspirated vehicles

Important Installation and Tuning Notes

EBC-Lite is an external electronic boost controller designed to stabilize and adjust boost pressure. It does not rewrite the ECU or change fuel delivery, ignition timing, air-fuel ratio, or other core engine parameters. If significant increases in boost are needed, simultaneous ECU tuning is recommended.

Special Notes:

- EBC-Lite can increase boost above the spring base pressure of the wastegate or actuator, but cannot reduce boost below the spring's base pressure. To lower boost, confirm the spring rating and replace it with a lower-rate spring if necessary.
- Power, pressure sensor, solenoid valve, and wiring must be connected correctly. Professional installation is strongly recommended to ensure safe and reliable system operation.
